Hunter Sprinkler Heads - Top of Their Class

If you have a Hunter sprinkler system, every so often, the Hunter sprinkler heads will need to be replaced. When the service person replaces them, make sure he replaces them with genuine Hunter sprinkler heads - and not some knock-off.

Hunter sprinkler heads are one of the most popular irrigation sprinkler heads around. Other popular brands are Toro, Nelson, and Rainbird.

The Hunter PGP rotor sprinkler head is one of the most popular models (and one with the best overall track record). In general, people seem to like this model because of its rubber cap design which keeps dirt and debris from getting into the rotor and gumming it up. The main drawback seems to be its covering capability - specifically, leaving grass areas too close to the sprinkler head unwatered. The Hunter PGP model, along with the PGJ model, is pretty much the industry standard for both commercial and residential sprinkler systems.

The Hunter I-20-ADS  4" (10cm) Stainless Steel Rotor Industrial Style Head is another popular model of the hunter sprinkler heads. It has a heavy duty stainless steel riser, flow-stop control (let's you turn the water off at the head - for easy servicing or adjusting), and multiple nozzles.

If you have a small lawn, you can probably get by with one of the cheaper heads. For consistency in covering a large area, however, you want the best sprinkler heads available. In addition to giving better lawn coverage, a good quality head is also easier to adjust. Since it's debut in the early eighties, the Hunter PGP rotor sprinkler head has consistently been among the top selling rotor sprinklers world-wide.

If you're looking for competition to Hunter sprinkler heads, their biggest competitors are Rainbird, Nelson, and Toro (formerly owned by Edwin Hunter, inventor of the Hunter sprinkler system and the holder of over sixty irrigation related patents).

In addition, if you ask people who install sprinkler systems for a living, they will most commonly mention two brands, Hunter and Toro, as being the best to buy. In addition, Orbit has a knock-off of the Hunter sprinkler head called the Voyager 2. Reportedly, this is a knock-off for the Toro and Rainbird sprinkler heads as well. Supposedly it is compatible with or can be used as a replacement for impact or gear drive sprinklers (including Hunter PGP, Toro, and Rainbird)

Replacements for Hunter sprinkler heads can most likely be purchased at your local home improvement center or hardware store. National home centers, such as Lowes and Home Depot, also carry them. And if you don't happen to live nearby to one of these retailers, you can always check out their website and have it delivered.

When choosing a sprinkler system, make sure that you choose one with adjustable sprinkler heads - something you don't have to worry about with Hunter sprinkler heads, as they are all adjustable. However, when purchasing one or more of the Hunter sprinkler heads, make sure that you also receive the appropriate adjusting tool to adjust the heads.

Reseeding Grass
There are many reasons for reseeding grass in your lawn. Here are some basic reseeding tips to get you started.

Artificial Grass Cost - The Hidden Fees
You can install artificial grass indoors or outdoors. But the true artificial grass cost of an outdoor installation is a bit higher than the indoor installation if you factor in the additional maintenance costs needed to maintain it.
